Eleven-year-old Fig enrolls in an art class to better understand her father, a composer and pianist whose mental illness she tries to conceal from classmates, neighbors, and social services.

VIRTUAL: Family Book Club: Cast Away: Poems for Our Time

Reading as a family draws us together! Our new Family Book Club is designed especially for kids in elementary school to learn, share, and discuss important topics. April's title is Cast Away: Poems for Our Time by Naomi Shihab Nye.

How to participate:

Discuss. Families can participate in one or both ways:
-Join us for a librarian-led Zoom book discussion and poetry workshop on April 25, where kids and adults can share their thoughts with the community, as well as learn more about poetry.
-Discuss at home as a family using this resource guide.

This class is designed for children with disabilities ages 3 and up, with caregiver support. Siblings welcome. Can't make it? A video recording of Miss Shelley introducing the songs and activities will be sent to registered families after class.

Join us at a Spring Gardening Party, co-hosted by the Girl Scouts. At this event, we will read a story about gardening, talk about why gardening is important, and make a planter out of a recyclable container with items found around your house! Families of all ages are welcome!
