Event Details

Wondering how to broach certain topics with your children? Looking for ways to support social-emotional learning in your family? This series promotes the use of books, to start some of those conversations. The topic this month is disability identity.

Did you know that most books written about characters who have disabilities are considered harmful and dehumanizing by people who have disabilities? That Wonder and Rules are considered very hurtful? In this interactive workshop, we will explore how books get the disability experience right and wrong, and how to find the best stories.

This is a family program, developed for children ages 5-8 with their caregivers.
