Solar Eclipse Viewing Party

11:54 AM - 2:53 PM

Event Details

Join us, in partnership with the Park District of Oak Park, to safely experience the celestial event of the century while celebrating the end of summer! We'll make pinhole projectors, try out a science experiment, listen to a live band from School of Rock, and more in Scoville Park (outside the Main Library). We'll even have special eclipse glasses to give away on the day of the event (while supplies last).

The maximum eclipse will occur at 1:20 p.m. Our rain or cloud location will be the Main Library Veterans Room, where we'll live-stream the eclipse as it moves across the country.

NOTE: We'll be giving away solar viewing glasses (while supplies last) during this event only. No glasses are being given away before Monday, August 21.

Wearing special eclipse glasses (not regular sunglasses) is one way to safely view the eclipse. Wondering if the eclipse glasses we'll be giving away on Monday, August 21 are legit? They are! They were given to us as part of a grant through and meet the requirements for ISO 12312-2:2015 certification.
